March 4, 2022 – The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) just released its fourth-quarter and full-year 2021 report, finding that an estimated 647 million metric tons (Mt) of total construction aggregates was produced and shipped for consumption in the fourth quarter of 2021; and the estimated annual output of construction aggregates produced for consumption in 2021 was 2.54 billion metric tons (Gt). The five leading states for total aggregates production in 2021 were, in descending order of total annual output, Texas (266 Mt valued at $3.340 billion); California (165 Mt valued at $2.150 billion); Missouri (128 Mt valued at $1,080 billion) Florida (117 Mt valued at $1.610 billion); and Ohio (105 Mt valued at $1.210 billion.) The combined total annual output from these states was estimated at approximately 780 Mt. This amounts to almost a third of the entire national production of aggregates.
